In this ongoing body of work, McCormack is interested in how repetition can evoke the dissolution of memory and how art can function as a record of both the process and the minds reflection. This evolves from the idea of a fictional space—one that exists at the intersection of lived experience, memory and imagination. She is interested in how images can shift between these states and how the boundaries between what is real and what is dreamed up can be gently blurred.
Accompanying the larger prints is a series of black-and-white ink sketches and scans created using Risography. This imagery shifts between closely observed moments of reflection and broader glimpses of transient beauty, capturing impressions that might otherwise disappear. When presented together with the silkscreen prints, they are intended to form a layered narrative that invites contemplation on the fragility of the natural world and the subtle complexities that shape the landscapes we inhabit, both physical and emotional.
In addition to the wall-based work, the creation of limited-edition books and experimental publications has become an integral extension of her practice. The book format generates space for further exploration, functioning simultaneously as an archive of process and as a platform for new ideas to immerge.
Each large-format silkscreen print in the series is composed of four to six layers of acrylic ink printed onto 300gsm Somerset paper. The process of building colour is meticulous: to achieve the range of blue hues I produce numerous proofs and carefully document tonal variations as every layer of ink is applied. This incremental method allows the work to evolve slowly. Once the final balance of colour has been established, each print is sealed with a coat of semi-matte acrylic varnish.
